Health Informatics has been defined as the science that underlies the academic investigation and practical application of computing and communications technology to healthcare, health education and biomedical research. This certificate is deigned for students who are interested in the rapidly growing field of health informatics, a field that has recently received considerable attention from the federal government as part of the reorganization of health care delivery in the United States. The certificate is focused on pre-professional students in the health sciences, medical students, practicing clinicians and and other health-care providers in addition to information technology professionals seeking advanced training in health informatics. Participants will extend their knowledge in the area of health informatics, integrated medical records, managerial communications and the development of electronic models for health care delivery.
Credit toward graduate degree
Up to 12 hours of certificate course credit may be applied to a graduate degree with departmental approval.
GRE testing is not required for admission to the certificate program. However, the GRE is required for admission to the graduate degree programs. International students must submit a TOEFL score when English is not the native language. A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test or 79 on the web-based test is required.
Applicants must hold an earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
