Health Management and Leadership
This Certificate is offered at the Tampa campus and the USF Downtown Center. Some courses (PHC 6102) are offered as Web-based courses in some semesters.
This certificate is designed to serve persons who want to enhance their knowledge and potential to pursue management and leadership positions in health services. It furthers an understanding of health system organization and financing, health policy, managed care and insurance, and management decision-making.
Credit toward graduate degree
Certificate program students can apply to the department's MPH, MHA or MSPH degree programs. If admitted to a graduate program in the Department of Health Policy and Management, the 12 credit hours can be transferred to the degree program within five years of completing the certificate.
International students must submit a TOEFL score when English is not the native language. A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test or 79 on the web-based test is required.
The applicant must have an earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited academic institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA and at least one of the following:
- At least two years of appropriate work experience, OR
- Concurrent enrollment in a graduate degree program, OR
- A graduate degree

- Departmental Approval Form (Please print, sign, and submit with all other documents to our office).
- Official transcriptsshowing attainment of the bachelor's degree
- A copy of the diploma
- A 250-word letter of interest stating your objectives in pursuing this course of study
- A resume
First, consult with the certificate program advisor and obtain an electronic course permit if necessary. Then go to http://usfonline.admin.usf.edu/, the link to OASIS, USF's online registration system. Follow directions given online.
